Fujitsu has announced their new MHZ2 BJ Series 2.5-inches hard disk drives that qualify among the most power-efficient drives in their class.
Meant for use in high-end notebooks and compact desktops, these drives feature rotational speeds of 7200 RPM and capacities of up to 320GB. They require just 2.3W power for read and write operations, which makes them the most power-efficient in their class, according to Fujitsu. The drives were actually announced as part of Fujitsu's "Green Policy Innovation Initiative" launched in December last year with the purpose of promoting products that help lower the ecological footprint. The MHZ2 BJ Series hard drives, Fujitsu claims, are manufactured in compliance with the European Union's RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive.
The MHZ2 BJ Series hard drives that support Serial ATA 3.0 Gb/s interface, are expected to start shipping by end June this year.
