An international affairs expert believes China will be worried about anti-western comments on social Internet sites.
Chinese students have launched an unprecedented wave of attacks on websites like YouTube and Facebook. They are accusing Western media of bias in reporting on unrest in Tibet.
Associate Professor Alexander Tan from Canterbury University says the messages will not be doing the Chinese government any favours. He says the last thing China wants is its people getting angry at the West, especially in the lead up to the Olympics.
Mr Tan says Chinese students are Internet savvy and are probably getting fed up with international media coverage.
