Windows Mobile 6.1 to be released on 1st April?

As per the news scoop from Pocket-lint, Microsoft is all set to release the Windows Mobile 6.1 on 1st April 2008.

Microsoft has planned to release the Windows Mobile 6.1 as an alternative till the Windows Mobile 7 arrives. The Windows Mobile 6.1 is expected to bring in a fresh change with simple and easy to use screens. Also, the new version is expected to get a new look with new icons and an efficient task manager.

PhoneArena was lucky to get a preview of the new Windows Mobile version. Windows Mobile 6.1 allows copying and pasting scripts from the Internet Explorer page and also introduces the ‘zoom out’ feature where one can scroll to the exact area of interest and avoid clutter on the page.

There is a possibility of this being an April fools prank, however if the Windows Mobile 6.1 is actually launched, it will definitely bring in an enjoyable experience to the current Windows Mobile 6 users.
